Welcome to Bush Farm Investments

Bush Farm Investments Limited (BFI) came up as a result of repeated unsuccessful ventures in farming as a business. Farmers are great at sharing what has worked for them with each other. By implementing some of these lessons from other farmers, progressive successes were realised. BFI is a collection of the ideas and skills learnt from many farmers over a period of time. It has finally been registered in 2024 as a company limited by shares to model farming profitability and provide a platform to mobilize farmers together and reproduce the models that have worked after many attempts and lessons learnt. Before its registration, BFI had already and still works with groups of farmers in Uganda, particularly Mukono, Kapchorwa, Kween and Bukwo.

Our Development model

Maximum production:

We maximise crop yields by employing best principles and practices of agriculture. We maximise crop yields in acreages brought under cultivation.

Processing, Packaging and Marketing:

We support each other through the value chain. We commit to reducing post harvest losses by encouraging proper quality preservation methods, value addition to our produce and marketing at the most profitable prices.

Financial literacy

Financial literacy is an important part of the model of BFI. This enables us as farmers to practice agriculture as a business more than just for household Survival.

Environmental care:

Animal waste is converted through biodigester technologies to provide energy for household fuel (biogas), while the bio-slurry is used as fertilizer to improve crop production. Agroforestry is an integral part of the model in order to care for the environment. The use of biogas reduces dependence on the tree biomass for household cooking hence benefiting the environment further.

By-product enterprises:

There is no waste in a farming system. BFI ensures that Crop residues are processed to animal feeds for livestock production. Zero grazing is modelled to ensure minimum waste of animal energy, maximum production, reduced risk of diseases and parasites, and most importantly, collection of animal waste.

Climate resilience:

BFI models maximising the good rainfall patterns in rain-fed agriculture but also ventures into water-fed agriculture as a way of ensuring climate resilience in agricultural production. We promote irrigation technologies that Involve use of renewable energy or basically gravity flow.
